FAQs

What is OneLibrary?

OneLibrary is a universal DJ library database format developed in close collaboration with AlphaTheta. It is designed to standardise DJ performance data, including playlists, cue points, and beatgrids. This allows DJs to perform seamlessly across different software and hardware ecosystems.

With OneLibrary, you can seamlessly move your library between djay, rekordbox, and supported DJ hardware such as CDJ, XDJ, OPUS, and OMNIS systems.

What data does OneLibrary store?

Stored data includes:

  • Playlists and playlist folders
  • Cue points and loops
  • Beat grids (including djay’s dynamic beat grids)
  • BPM, key, and waveform data

Any changes you make — such as adjusting a cue point or beat grid — are automatically written back to the drive, ensuring your data remains consistent and synchronized across all supported software and hardware.

How do I export my library to a USB drive?

  1. Connect a USB drive or SD card to your Mac or Windows computer.
  2. In djay, open the USB Library source in the sidebar.
  3. Drag playlists or folders from My Collection into the USB Library, or Ctrl-click → Add to USB Library.
  4. Safely eject the drive once export is complete.

You can now plug that same drive into an iPhone, iPad, or compatible CDJ/XDJ system to access your playlists instantly — no laptop required.

Which USB drive formats are supported?

OneLibrary supports the following file systems:

  • FAT32 — macOS / Windows / iOS
  • exFAT — macOS / Windows / iOS
  • HFS+ (macOS Extended) — macOS / iOS

Can I edit playlists directly in OneLibrary?

Yes — on macOS and Windows you can add, delete, or rename playlists and folders directly within the USB Library source. On iOS, OneLibrary is read-only, so editing must be done on desktop before exporting.

What happens if I change cue points or loops on another system?

All cue points, loops, and beat grids are stored directly in OneLibrary on your USB drive. This means if you update or move a cue point on a CDJ, rekordbox, or another djay device, those changes are automatically reflected the next time you connect the same OneLibrary drive — ensuring perfect consistency and sync across your devices and workflow.

What should I do if my drive doesn’t appear?

  • Confirm the drive uses a supported file system (FAT32, exFAT, or HFS+).
  • Check that it’s properly mounted by your operating system.
  • On iOS, ensure your device supports external storage and has granted djay access to the drive.

Is OneLibrary compatible with older hardware?

Currently, OneLibrary is supported on the models listed above. Please make sure your hardware is updated to the latest firmware version to ensure compatibility. Future hardware and software updates will continue to expand OneLibrary support.

⚠️ Please note that the latest CDJ-3000 firmware v3.30 contains a critical issue. See here for more information.
